Tyres are classified as controlled waste under UK law and cannot legally be disposed of in skips, at household waste sites or in general waste collections — they must be handled by a licensed waste carrier.
North West Waste collect and recycle 100% of all tyres we remove. None are sent to landfill.

How Tyres Are Recycled
All tyres collected by North West Waste are processed through specialist tyre recycling facilities. Passenger and commercial vehicle tyres are shredded and the resulting crumb rubber is used in a range of applications including playground surfaces, sports pitches, road surfacing and industrial flooring. Steel and fibre components are also separated and recycled separately.
